3D software advances and technology

3D software has always been developing quickly, but now more than ever it seems that the technological advances in this industry are developing at the speed of light. The big players such as Autodesk and Adobe now have an arsenal of tools that make it easier, faster and more cost effective to create 3D assets and CGI content.

The realism that is now possible in both real-time and off-line render engines gives these types of software more and more use cases. Unreal Engine isn’t only used to make games, but the architectural visualization community is growing at a pace. Developers can now create virtual houses that are fully decorated, with the added benefit that everything can be configurable. Users can “walk” through these spaces as if they where really there, and when combined with VR, the immersion gets even more realistic.

When we then look at the more “traditional” render programs, the realism has gotten to a point where it’s almost impossible to tell if the image is CGI or photography. Not only are the 3D assets getting more detailed and realistic, but the way render engines calculate lights, shadows, reflections and interact with material are as close to the real world as ever.

Off course it’s not just the software, without the hardware these innovations would not be possible. Our computers and phones are now at the point that even modest hardware can display realistic 3D experiences. This allows us to add more polygons, higher resolution textures and better lighting to give customers the best experience possible.

Rendered employs full-time 3D artists skilled in all aspects of the 3D workflow, some specialize in modelling while others in rendering. Software such as Autodesk 3ds Max and Adobe Substance Painter allow us to create detailed and real to life 3D assets that can be used for online interactive experiences or to create realistic CGI content.

Through standardizing our software and processes, and heavily investing in our workflow and automation, we are creating more cost effective solutions for our clients that will benefit both them and us in the long term.
